I have an FIT-230RF or FIT-230RFL
My smoke alarm beeps:
1 beep per minute:
Replacing the battery:
- Turn off the power
- Remove the smoke alarm from the base plate
- Remove the battery.
- Press the test button until there are no more light and sound signals. This is to remove the last bit of power from the smoke alarm. This allows the smoke alarm to reset itself correctly.
- Thoroughly vacuum the smoke alarm with a vacuum cleaner. This is advised to be done monthly to avoid false alarms. With monthly maintenance, the smoke alarm does not have to be removed from the ceiling, it is also possible by using the long rod of the vacuum cleaner.
- Place a new battery in the smoke alarm. ATTENTION: ATTENTION THE PLUS AND THE MINUS
- Leave the smoke alarm for 10 seconds.
- Use the test button to test your smoke alarm.
- Place the smoke alarm back on the base plate.
- Switch on the power.
2 beeps per minute:
3 beeps per hour:
Loud pulsing alarm sound without the red LED flashing:
False alarm; loud pulsating alarm sound and a flashing red LED:

It is very important a smoke alarm is maintained properly from the day of installation, see your user manual. To maintain your smoke alarm, it is sufficient if you monthly vacuum clean along the side of the smoke alarm with the brush on the long rod of the vacuum cleaner.
If you do not do this, the smoke chamber will gradually contaminate, and as soon as the contamination reaches a certain level, the smoke alarm will start giving a faulty alarm. This is not covered by the warranty as it is caused by poor maintenance.
If contamination of the smoke chamber is causing the faulty alarm, what you can try is to thoroughly vacuum clean your smoke alarm on all visual openings:
- Turn off the power
- Remove the smoke alarm from the base plate
- Remove the battery.
- Press the test button until there are no more light and sound signals. This is to remove the last bit of power from the smoke alarm. This allows the smoke alarm to reset itself correctly.
- Thoroughly vacuum clean the smoke alarm with a vacuum cleaner.
- Place the battery back into the smoke alarm. ATTENTION: ATTENTION THE PLUS AND THE MINUS
- Leave the smoke alarm for 10 seconds.
- Use the test button to test your smoke alarm.
- Place the smoke alarm back on the base plate.
- Switch on the power.
If this does not help the last possible solution is the use of compressed air.
Unfortunately, if this also does not help, the smoke chamber contamination is so deep that it is beyond repair and the smoke alarm will have to be replaced.
Maintenance of your smoke alarm:
- Test your smoke alarm monthly and after a period of absence
- Clean the smoke alarm regularly (once a month) with the soft brush of the vacuum cleaner

Linking the smoke alarm:
This smoke alarm can be connected wirelessly with the smoke alarms FIT-230RF(L) and heat alarms FITH-230RF(L) series. It depends on the production date of the smoke detectors to be connected whether you can connect them. This is possible with a production date from 15-03-2021.
More information about this can be found in the datasheet ‘Pairing Smoke and Heat Detectors FIT-RF series‘.
